About Prof. Al-Jarf
Reima Saado Al-Jarf has taught ESL, translation and linguistics courses for undergraduate students and ESP courses for graduate students at the College of Languages and Translation, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for 26 years. Her areas of interests are: Use of technology in language teaching and learning, reading curriculum design, reading in ESL and spelling and translation error analysis. She has published 10 books and more than 160 articles in refereed International and national journals. She has given more than 290 presentations in 60 countries (Albania, Austria, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Czech Republic, China, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malaysia, Morocco, North Cyprus, Norway, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE, UK, Ukraine, USA, Vietnam) and is a member of 22 national and international professional organizations. She has taught 30 online courses and 50 language skills courses, linguistics, translation and interpreting courses. Since the year 2000, she has integrated different types of technologies in the language and translation courses she has taught. She has tried several LMS such as Blackboard, WebCT, Moodle, Nicenet, & RCampus. She has written numerous papers and gave many presentations on the integration of blogs, wikis, podcasts, MP3 lessons, Mind Manager, Text-to-Speech, and different kinds of language websites in language courses such as reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, vocabulary and translation. Many of her research results have been cited in international media and by many internet websites. For example, the results of her "Global Dimension in Saudi History Textbooks" paper appeared in more than 20 newspapers worldwide including World Tribune, Education, Guardian, Opinion Journal, Le Monde, Gulf Wire Digest, Free Republic, the Straits Times, Arab News, Imra,Saudi-US Relations Information Service, and others and her "The Effects of Online Instruction on Struggling ESL College Writers" was also cited by many authors and was the subject of many research reviews. In the year 208, she won 3 Excellence for Teaching Awards and the Best Faculty Website Award at her university and college.
